Dieppe to Dole

Our journey began with a beautifully calm and sunny crossing to Dieppe, followed by a long day's drive to what looked to be an idyllic aire de camping cars in Lailly, right by a church and next to a small lake, except for the all night noise from the village generators and enthusiastically mating frogs!  We learn from each trip where we would return. Next day, a short sleepy drive on to visit friends near Selles sur Cher in the Loire and to stay over at their beautiful holiday home. All along the way admiring the civic pride of the French, each town and village beautifully kept, with immaculate floral displays and a distinct absence of litter.  Next stop a peaceful aire at Clamency, via a visit to Guedelon, a mediaeval castle being traditionally built in the 21st century - National Trust take note! What a fabulous project, with each detail immaculately observed. The site incorporates an entire village with craftspeople of every kind, all working with the methods used in the Middle Ages. Now at a campsite in Dole in the Jura. Wonderful scenery here and very different to our usual route. Off to walk the town this sunny morning and then who knows. . . .
